English Lineage

Helen keeps telling me that she has a traceable English lineage, I am just wondering if this is accurate as, being a decentant of Scotish highlanders, the possibility of English lineage sends a shiver down the sporen! Not wanting to "Toss the Caber" or throw any victorian toys out of the cot, I thought I would post an open request on the no doubt soon to be infamous Kuljish blog, for anyone to educate me.
Not wanting to recreate the battle of Colluden does anyone know where abouts in the UK the english side of the family comes from and what the Surname was? I was wondering whether there is an assoicated coat of arms. I am feeling pretty relaxed here on the couch with my choice of Cameron or BlackWatch tartans to choose from. Even though its cold outside there are no worries about a shiver under this sporen. Happy Hogmany.

Foot note from Helen: On investigation (done in the mall the other day) it appears that the McPhail's were of dubious lineage...apparently they joined ranks with whomever was winning at the time eg the Camerons or the BlackWatch, and do not have there own coat of arms. But as it turns out the Kuljish name has a proud and anceint heritage with there "own" coat of arms.
